Looking back over the past year, I've had the chance to meet some terrific people and travel to some neat places. But in all the travels, it was never the sites that made trips great, but the people I spent them with.
When I think of my trip to Rome last winter, my strongest memories aren't of the Colosseum or the Vatican, but of dinner with Dani and her parents. Then in Florence the next day, it's not memories of the Uffizi Gallery or Ponte Vecchio that stand out in my mind, but the jokes we told at the gelato stand and songs we belted out at 2 in the morning. In Naples, the views were great, but pizza on the Mediterrean and midnight drinks with family and friends left the strongest memories.
At the end of the day, it's the not the destination, but the journey that counts most. Have a Happy Thanksgiving ...in whichever corner of the world you find yourself!
